Great post. I agree…she would be an asset to the Supreme Court. Wonder if she would still come back and speak at Auburn events, graduations, etc. Possibly you could get an interview!

Since Bergeson and her supporters brought ‘standards’ reform to Washington State, enrollment has been dropping steadily for the past 8 years.

Last year, something extraordinary happenned, state enrollment dropped sharply by 54,000 students. It plunged 6% (almost the size of Seattle Public Schools). This is not usually observed except in districts that were affected by a natural disaster.

OSPI officials were warned about increasing dropout rates and the possibility of increasing teenage violence, pregnancies, and drug abuse. It is hard to say if their stupidity was not done deliberately. Southeast Seattle school closures being one of the latest travesties done to marginalized families.

Washington schools created not only a large chasm between failures and college-bound students, but lowered achievement for all groups of students. (e.g. about 50% of college freshmen are now taking remedial classes)

Thanks to Bergeson, lawmakers created a bureaucratic monster that succeeded in resegregating communities, increased the costs of educating students tenfold, and established an academic floor for high school at around 5th grade.

The issue should not be about what students do with math once they are adults, but what schools do to students once they fail at math. Bergeson has no more excuses. Her ouster has to do with social justice, not the WASL. I hope voters congradulate their elected representatives at the polls, I sure did.

(Yawn) Semler is just another one-issue (e.g. anti-WASL) candidate. In other words, he’s probably being groomed by our corporate masters to pose as Bergeson’s main opponent.

As usual, I’ll probably be the only candidate focusing on the #1 issue facing education: Corporatization.

Yesterday I participated in the caucus held at Drycreek School in Port Angeles Freshwater precint
I just wanted to comment, it could not have been more confusing if they tried. Hopefully this process is not how the campaign will be run or we are in big trouble. Also wanted to comment that I think the caucus thing is grossly unfair to the wash state voters. Being that it is only offered on a Sat afternoon, it elimates a huge amount of people who would like to attend. Then to the whole ballot issue is very unclear, but it seems they are not even taken into consideration in our voice on who should be the democrate canidate!
I strongly advice that this whole process undergo a terrific revision. Voting should not be difficult and everybodies voice needs to be heard.
