WAGOP Endorses Michael Cathcart for Spokane County Auditor

Bellevue—The Spokane County Republican Party and the Washington State Republican Party (WAGOP) have both endorsed Michael Cathcart for Spokane County Auditor. The Spokane GOP endorsed Cathcart at its County Convention on August 22; the WAGOP has endorsed Cathcart a week earlier.

A member of the Spokane City Council, Cathcart is running against Democrat Callie Gee in the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

“As your Auditor, I will be an independent watchdog, focused on the systems that touch our lives every day,” reads Cathcart’s website. “That means serious oversight of tax dollars, strong election administration, and careful stewardship of vital records. It also means getting the basics right, from paying our county workers accurately and on-time to recording property deeds and processing marriage licenses accurately to issuing vehicle registration and transferring vehicle titles efficiently.”

WAGOP Chairman Rep. Jim Walsh said: “After a hard-fought primary, Michael Cathcart has emerged as the common-sense choice to serve as Spokane’s County Auditor. He has the experience, temperament and skills his general-election opponent lacks. With the primary season ended, I’m glad to see Republicans coming together to support Cathcart.”
